    Some excellent news. Despite it being a bank holiday, I've managed to re-mortgage to release some equity in our property and start on an eco friendly extension.

    In fact, the builders have started today and it's looking pretty good too for the time they have put into it so far. I'll get some pictures taken and upload to photobucket later...

    LEGOLAND prices are currently as follows:

    Just to keep a record in this diary, as the above page will probably change:
    2 x adults (2 days) @ 74.59 each = 149.18
    2 x children (2 days) @ 56.20 each = 112.40

    Total LEGOLAND ticket prices alone = £261.58

    Happy New Year FB! :) I haven't been around much for the past few months, but will be back for huge financial progress in 2010.

    A couple of thoughts about Legoland, having been an ex annual pass holder when we lived closeby a few years ago. It's not a big place, so could easily be done in one day to keep costs down.

    But for a more leisurely pace with two young children in tow, the annual passes are cheaper than the fares you quoted above. The basic annual pass bought online is £49.66. They have timings restrictions on them, but only really affecting August (from memory.) The full annual pass is £67.13 for an adult. And particularly ridiculous is the fact that two single day passes is cheaper than a two day pass!

    It's highly likely though that your overall deal is still the most economical, in which case you can ignore the above! :D Have fun. When are you going?

    This was inspired by someone walking past and commenting: "I bet you'd rather pay the mortgage on that...", so I thought I'd post a comment here as a little light humour.

    Well spotted Mark5 for guessing it was a joke:

    Sorry for the crude editing at the top - a couple of cars in shot, one with the registration no visible, so I've cut them out.

    Also, the photo doesn't do it justice. In places the walls are about a foot thick, but thin out slightly as they get higher. Big enough to accommodate both kids at once, but quite difficult to build as the snow turned a bit powdery part way through the snow shower...

    Phew, thank goodness it was a joke, I've just been catching up on your thread and couldn't believe it when you said about releasing equity and starting on an extension, I was just about to reply but then read further down and saw it was a joke - for a nano second I was actually starting to believe you might have been holding out on us :rotfl:

    Right, really must go and see about following your lovely advice about getting graphs on my thread, I don't know where the last two weeks have gone to as I had a big 'MFW to do list' that I haven't even touched yet :o

    Roughly, you need to do the following:
    • Collect data and enter into Excel / other spreadsheet
    • Generate / tweak graph until you're happy with the results.
    • Select the graph and take a copy to the clipboard,
    • Open Paint and paste copy into a blank canvas
    • Still in Paint, select Save as and save as a JPEG image.
    • Create an account / log on to an on-line storage solution, eg photobucket.com
    • Upload picture from your PC to on-line storage
    Once it's "on-line", link to it via your diary. There may be a number of available links to use, eg for photobucket there's Email and IM, Direct Link, HTML Code and IMG code. I use the link that is given in the IMG Code.

    Despite the normal mortgage payment and overpayment both being collected from our Nationwide current account on Friday 1st, only the overpayment has cleared so far.

    I'll be using a similar format to previous years for the mortgage details, but I've decided to add in the completion date from Nationwide, as this should change a number of times over the course of the year.

    Opening Balance: 48,499.96

    Overpayments in Blue.
    Interest in Red.
    Balance in Green.

    Month: Payment (Std / OP) / Interest (day) / Net reduction / Balance / Nationwide completion

    January: 500.00 (0.00 / 500.00) / 18.96 (6.32) / 481.04 / 48,018.92 / September 2015

    Totals: Payment / Interest / Net reduction.

    Minimum: 500.00 / 18.96 / 481.04
    Maximum: 500.00 / 18.96 / 481.04
    Average: 500.00 / 18.96 / 481.04
    Grand Total: 500.00 / 18.96 / 481.04

    Balance outstanding: 48,018.92


    I've also updated the graphs that are on post #1 and there's a subtle difference between the two - probably not enough to see in the graphs, but I feel a quick explanation is needed.

    The two balance summary graphs, ie 12/12/12 graph and the 25 year term are generated from the balance of the mortgage taken each Sunday. The minimum, maximum and average lines are taken from the data each week. However as 2009 was a 53 week year, the overpayment for 2010 was reflected in the 2009 data.

    However the column chart is taken from a different analysis of the mortgage data and breaks the data down by year not week, so currently just shows the £500 payment, £18.96 interest and £481.04 net reduction.
