PPI Claim from 20 Years Ago

Hi
Just wondering if anyone can help? We have no proof of our PPI apart from a "Mortgage Offer" originally from Abbey National. The PPI was in my husbands name and we do recall paying it for a few years. Our bank can't go back that far with bank statements to verify payment, therefore, we're asking Santander to look into it. We hold very little hope, apart from companies who look at PPI on your behalf is there anything else we can do ourselves? Thanks

Never use a company. They can only do what you can, only worse and more expensively.
Fortunately, mortgage PPI isn't often mis sold, so I wouldn't worry too much if no one can find records.0 -

Claims companies do nothing you cannot do. The extent of their work is to put the complaint form in an envelope and send it to the same address you would send it to if you complain directly.
They have no access to information or data. They have no special powers. They are effectively buying the stamp and envelope for your complaint.
In respect of MPPI, most complaints on this fail. MPPi is still retailed today. One of only two types of PPI that is. It has few fewer issues than other types of PPI. Abbey only retailed monthly premium MPPI. That is how PPi should be set up. So, there will be no structural failure with the product. We have no proof of our PPI apart from a "Mortgage Offer" originally from Abbey National.
PPI didnt normally appear on an offer letter as it was not bundled into the debt. What does it say on your offer letter about PPI?
