Letter from Debt Recovery Plus

Hi all,

So I've just returned from a weeks holiday to find a letter from Debt Recovery Plus asking for £160 relating to a parking charge from 2nd July whilst on Holiday in Newquay.

I have had no warning from Smart Parking even though DRP say they sent an initial notice out of the 5th July. We returned from the weeks holiday on the 8th and still had nothing. I never saw any letters from Smart Parking Ltd at all! I remember buying a ticket for the car park and it is quite possible that I overstayed by 10 minutes but its 3 months ago now and I cant remember that much detail that far back.

So I've just phoned DRP and they said they will put this on my record and advise the creditor that I will not pay. Now they say I will have to go to court! I don't know what to do. I am trying to buy a house at the moment and do not need a CCJ against me!

Can anyone offer any advice, please?

DRP TALKING UTTER RUBBISH AGAIN :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

You should NEVER TALK TO DRP.

DRP ARE POWERLESS and their stupid threats mean nothing.

Only SMART can start court proceedings and NOT a low
life bottom feeder company like DRP.

Block their number on your phone and dump their stupid
    letter down the loo.

DRP HAVE LIED TO YOU and should be reported to
TRADING STANDARDS as DRP are a ROGUE TRADER

Just wait to see if Smart do anything and don't worry

In the past couple of years, Smart Parking have issued over three quarters of a million tickets, yet have instigated court proceedings just 8 times. Do you really think you’d be their 9th, especially when it costs them much more than they could ever hope to recover from a single parking ticket? They’d be much more interested in multiple ticket ignorers.

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
