Ebay business account and wholesaler

Sorry if this is a dumb question but hopefully someone can advise me
I have a private ebay account which i occasionally use to sell odd personal bits but is mainly used to buy stuff. However i would like a card for my local wholesalers, basically to buy birthday/xmas gifts, homewares for my own personal use as opposed to selling on Ebay.My problem is that the only option to get a card is to set up my Ebay account as "A trading business, paying a subscription ,rather than individual????
Whatever that means, the wholesalers site then goes on to say that i just need to print my account/personal info etc to register. Are ther any implications to me changing my account from private to business or should i re register as a business account with Ebay whilst keeping my private one,as i say i wont be buying anything to sell on just for my own use.Hope this makes sense

No Subscription have to be paid to eBay if you don't want any of their 'paid for' services.
The only difference will be the option of entering a VAT Number if you sell over £65,000pa to warrant registering & you can enter a Business Name on eBay.
Your 'meet the seller' info will show Business Seller0 -

Just remember to add VAT to the prices-some things aren't always the bargain they seem!0 -
if it's somewhere like Makro, forget it, once you add on the vat, they are more expensive. Jtf is slightly better and imho, Costco is the best of the bunch. If you have someone to split bulk purchases of food/household goods it can be very cheap."There is a light that never goes out"0

Thanks for all your replies:T Phew was panicking about any implications regarding Inland Revenue tax and what not As i said i rarely use Ebay for selling so think i will just open another account for business and leave it unused so i can buy some goodies for the family for Xmas etc and keep my private account for
selling my personal stuff:T0 -
Yes, that's the best idea. Don't use it for selling because the IR might pick up on it and think you have been buying to resell.
The other thing is, if it is for Makro I had to take an Invoice in with my trading details and also the letter from the Inland Revenue to show I was self employed before I could have an account. I am not sure on the rules for Costco. But, as I have a Trading As name and also use my own name for trading I can't see what other information they would need. Tell them you are self employed and Trade As so always use your own name to keep it simple.0 -
Thanks its actually for JTF according to the website
"EBAY CUSTOMERS PLEASE NOTE: If you are an ebay trader and you wish to join JTf, you must set up your EBAY account as a trading business, paying a subscription, rather than individual. Then go to MyEbay -> My Account -> Personal Information. Print this screen, which shows all the relevant information we need.
This, along with proof of ID is all that's required."
Not sure how much the subscription is will try phoning them later.Had a friend who used to have a card years ago but she has since moved awayJust called them and apparently its for folks with an Ebay shop...my mistake i assumed by reading the above i would be ok by just opening up a business account.Oh well looks like no bargains for me

You would only need it for one month I assume? So just £6 fee.0

Only problem is that i would have to provide invoices according to the woman on the phone which isnt stated on the site so no luck as i wouldnt be selling on bay just shopping for myself:(

Thats annoying, For a small business all you usually need is a letterhead which you can produce at home, that usually suffices.
After all theyre usually happy to get the custom.0
