Broadband contract

Hi I need some advice, I currently rent a flat however my landlord wants to sell so I have to leave. I have contacted my broadband provider to cancel the Internet as I am moving to a property that already has the Internet, and I have been told I have 200.90 fee to pay. Surely this isn't fair?

    Yes it's fair, you signed up to a contract and now you are breaking it. It makes no difference why you are breaking it only that you are.


    Under normal circumstances they allow you to take the contract to your new home but as this isn't the case here then your stuck with the bill.


    Can you cancel the internet at the new place? Is it your flat or are you sharing? If its your flat then you don't have a contract for the existing internet and you can take the old one with you.
  • How is it fair that you’re choosing to break a contract you agreed to with your provider?
    They haven’t made you move house, or made you choose one that already has internet access provided.

    Ask them if you can pay it off monthly? :)

    The previous two posts were blunt, but correct. Generally, the only way to get out of the contract is to move to somewhere where they cannot provide the service, but some companies are now adding clauses so that moving overseas doesn't count.
    If it sticks, force it.
    If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
