SIP Parking / County Claim Form / Gladstones

Hi there,
Received a PCN from SIP Parking in Manchester earlier this year. Forgot to pay online.
I just thought i'd ignore the pcn as it will go away eventually like most usually do.. but since then i've received plenty of letters and just shot them all in the bin apart from the county court and the gladstones letter.
Do i have any sort of defence? Or shall i just bite the bullet as this is my own fault in all honestly.
No one might not be able to help me in this case but just thought i'd put this out there, any help is much appreciated.
Regards,
Luke

First you need to edit your comment to remove any suggestion who was driving. Say only "the driver ...parked the car and went to work..........."
Then read the NEWBIES thread post 2. Which explains the court process, what to do and when.
You must acknowledge the claim online. Do this now! Then draft a defence a post here for review.0 -

Thanks, I've already acknowledged the claim online, but I also entered a defence in panic, i don't think it was the best defence I could have put together either. Is there no way on entering a better defence, will i get another chance?
Also what defence have I got when it was the drivers fault in not getting a parking ticket?0 -
Yes you can apply to the court to amend your defence enclosing the required fee of £255!Is there no way on entering a better defence, will i get another chance?
I really don't understand why people come here for advice after they've already done everything themselves.
You may as well post what you submitted. Hopefully you covered the main points0 -
I'd claimed that the machines were out of order and i had spoken to an attendant who told me not to worry and my car will be fine for the day. I said this is the first letter I've received as there is no proof of me ever receiving it. Also claimed there was no PCN slapped on my windscreen. More than happy for pay the £6 parking for the day but refuse to pay the £238 which it's upto now. I dont know if that will get me anywhere but my defence was a panic... I should have came here first, wish I did now.0

so do we, because you have a very poor defence from what you have written above
no you dont get to write a better one unless you pay a fortune to be allowed to do so
we cannot help people who have already shot themselves in the foot
you are the second one this weekend thats jumped the gun , you know what they say
"act in haste , repent at leisure"
the regulars here have enough to do helping those that can be helped and do what we say , AFTER WE SAY IT0 -

It’s frustration essentially. You had 33 days to do some research instead of rushing your one and only shot
You do have a shot at it with thatdefence, but it will need a great witness statement. You need to expand upon the variation that was agreed with their agent on site - this is the idea of promissory estoppel, ie they are barred from going back on what was said. This is backed up by the CRA2015 which state# consumers are entitled to rely upon information given verbally or in writing.0
