oh what a good thread, bit of humourous banter but not malicous, just how MSE has been in the past. i was starting to think it was all getting a bit serious from some posters.

I suppose it would have done at 6-51 p.m. as the office will be closed.

There is no such thing as a "local call" these numbers are revenue sharing numbers and can cost up to 40p per minute if called from a mobile.

don't think so 0870 are the revenue sharing numbers. 0845 is the same cost as a local call

Sorry but you are wrong, they both are,(you are believing the hype of the telcos, or you are one), actually all numbers beginning 084/087 are revenue sharing numbers that cost more than an 01/02 number, e.g from a BT line evenings and weekends a call to 0845 will cost ½p per minute, whereas a call to an 01/02 will cost 4.5p for up to one hour, therefore a call to an 0845, for an hour, at these times will cost 30p, a premium of 550%, and as most people will have phone packages these numbers are never included,as with mobiles, your inclusive minutes will not include 084/087 numbers, 1899,18866,18185, also charge more than an 01/02 for 0845 numbers, i.e. 1899.com calls to 01/02 numbers 0p per minute, calls to 0845 numbers Mon-Fri 3.5p per minute.

There is more info on the http://saynoto0870.com/cgi-bin/forum/YaBB.cgi
but if you want to use the inflated 0845 numbers then that is your choice, I am just informing others of the cost of these calls, although most on here should know that.

BT now charge 2p per minute during the day at weekends, not 0.5p, unfortunately. :(

Yes you are correct, I had forgot about the change :o, but the principle is still the same, it will cost more in nearly all case to use 0845, as against inclusive minutes, that do not include 0845, or by using the likes of 1899, 18866, etc for only 5p per call for 01/02 numbers regardless of call duration.

1899 still charge 0.5p per minute for 0845 at weekends

And 18185 who still charge 0.5p per minute at weekends and evenings

Are we talking about crumpets here - or pikelets?

There is a difference (depending on your area of the country of course).

Crumpets to me are not much thicker than Scotch pancakes - while pikelets are about an inch high.

This is an important question which I feel needs a serious answer! :rotfl:
  • I always thought it was the other way around - pikelets the thin ones and crumpets the thick. I could just eat some now...:)
