Outlook Express 2013 problem

Hi all

Thanks for looking in.

I run Outlook Express 2013, and everything was fine until a few weeks ago, when my outgoing messages wouldn't send, and it came up with an error code.

Spoke with my provider, who said I should delete my current Outlook email, and reload the info.

I did this, and ended up with my old email messages etc in the top of the left hand pane, but then had my 'new' account underneath, with the same email address and with a (1) after it.

This is now receiving all my email messages, and is allowing me to send messages, so in a way my original problem is now sorted !
My provider is saying that, to get rid of the new (1) account, I should delete it, and reload again ...

Why do I feel like all that's going to happen is (1) stays where it is, and I end up creating account (2) ???

I can access all my previous messages, but want to just have the one account, and keep all my messages !
Too much to ask for ???

Any thoughts, comments and suggestions gratefully received, but please remember that I only have one brain cell, so words of more than one syllable will be ignored ! :)

Ta muchly in advance

    OK - one syllable words .... ;)

Outlook Express was a 'free standing' mail program that came with earlier versions of Windows - it was stopped when they introduced Windows Vista in 2006.

Outlook is another stand-lone program that comes as part of MS Office. It is also used for emails as well as calendar and other stuff

Outlook is the latest name for Hotmail which is a web based email program

Outlook 365 is something else, but I'm not sure really what, sorry.

I think there is also Outlook, which is an email app for mobile phones.

There you go ......... it really is that simple :rotfl:

    What exactly do you have????

That summary just about sums up my confusion about Outlook.

I loved Outlook Express and was very disappointed when support for it was withdrawn. Pens, pencils and paper have existed in pretty much the same format for decades (centuries, even). The diversity and incompatibility of modern methods of sending and receiving messages makes my head spin.

Thanks for that ... I had a read, and as I'm only at the level of pressing the 'On' button of my PC today, I will have another read when I've more fingers online !!

When OE died a long time ago i found the switch to Thunderbird easy .

Pen and paper you pay for continually and OE was free .
