Hopefully others may find and add to this thread. As of 3rd Oct 2017, Canary have changed their terms of service and changed the firmware on their device, effectively crippling most functionality on it without an expensive monthly subscription. Check out the fury and stinking recent reviews for proof: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Canary-All-One-Security-Device/dp/B014KWCHTU . I have 6 months of my John Lewis guarantee left on mine and will be attempting to get a refund as it is no longer fit for purpose and has effectively been purposefully broken via software update by the manufacturer. Someone on an Amazon review said they have negotiated a return but I am not sure how recent their purchase was. Please anyone, add to this thread if you have any luck.

Update 14 Oct 17: John Lewis were receptive and listened carefully to what I had to say - especially as complaints are starting to appear on the reviews section of the product for their website, aswell as Amazon's. They are opening an investigation and will report back to me in 2 days.

Update: 16 Oct 17: Despite being 16 months old, as it is within its 2 year guarantee, John Lewis are refunding me due to it no longer being fit for purpose. What a great company!

That is awful being blackmailed, or buying a feature packed product that you were told was free, then have the features removed. I have similar ability of my cam from a different manufacturer, but do not use the supplied service. Thought about putting this up on youtube too?
