Best credit card for fuel?

Can anyone confirm a cashback credit card that gives money back on fuel (diesel)? I've read not all do.

The new Citi Shell card offers 3% cashback for all Shell fuel (introductory bonus is a whopping 6% cashback on Shell fuel for the first 60 days if you apply before November). 1% cashback for all other purchases (2% first 60 days).

Runner-up to that is the Barclaycard Cashback Platinum which pays out 2% cashback on all fuel and supermarket spend (max cashback earnable = £15/month). 0.5% cashback for all other purchases.

These are going to be my 2 main cards for sure... Barclaycard for all my fuel (apart from shell) and groceries... and Shell card for Shell petrol and everything else! ... and a post office/nationwide card tucked up safely in a drawer at home ready for those trips abroad!

Before you apply for the Shell Card what is the price of the fuel there and what is it at the local supermarket's, you may be better off with 2% Barclaycard.

Also Asda credit card that gives you 2p off per liter at ASDA stations. Advantage is that the 2p is deducted immediately from the payment ratehr than having to wait for a cashback date.

Another moneysaver posted a message on here a while ago about the MBNA credit card but I can't find it.

There is an MBNA credit card (maybe all of them?) which allow you to purchase MBNA rewards for money rather than points using your credit card.

One of the rewards are Sainsburys gift vouchers which can be used at the petrol station. I think you have to buy at least £100 worth but the price is just £94 per £100 of vouchers.

The price of petrol at my local Sainsburys is 96.9p/litre. Using these vouchers (and paying of the credit card monthly to avoid any interest charges) it would work out to be just 91.1p/litre. :j
