House valuation as part of probate for Mum?

Hello again :(

My Dad passed away almost a month ago and left a will in which he left everything to Mum. We need a letter of administration for a savings account my dad had in his own name (which was their retirement fund) and for his work pension provider.

We need to fill out an IHT205 form but I’m not sure what we need to do for the house valuation. Can we use an approximation given it has no bearing on IHT (because there won’t be any IHT)? Or do we need an EA or Red Book valuation?

Thanks

Comments

  • As the home passes to the spouse who I assume lives there then an EA value will suffice.
  • Thank you, that’s what I thought.

Does anyone know if Section 11 oh IHT205 is relevant for a husband passing everything to his wife? I’m not clear despite reading the help guide.
