More than break. Electric cars refuses to accept charge after some time and then goes all your hard earned savings!

Sorry no electric cars its just not advanced enough to get what i am looking for here.

Yes i like the idea of the keeping my Mazda might do it till Bristol but entry into Bristol which sucks during rush hour.

Yes 30 quids a day commuting to Bristol isn't that bad.

Also as someone suggested put up my journey plan on liftshare.co.uk may be someone will join me occasionally or regularly reducing my overall cost.

Found free parking in swindon which helps too.

Thanks for the all the thoughts and inputs.

Firstly, I don't think an electric car is right for OP. Stick with the Mazda, you've invested in it with the cam belt and tyres, and presumably, repairing the rear end.

But there are some inaccurate assumptions in here, and I can't help myself.
Who wants to stop on their commute to ‘fill up’ for a couple of hours?
Stopping for a charge takes about 30 minutes, not 2 hours. The Leaf is a 30kWh battery, Chademo connection, 50 kW speed.

They do what now? Can you elaborate?!

Fair play but the question is still valid. Who wants to stop for even 30 mins (or more likely 40 by the time you've come off the motorway, got plugged in and the unplugging and getting back on at the end) during their commute?

Also, what happens if the charging points are broken/in use? You'd need a very understanding boss.

Stick with the mazda. sell it when the belt is due and it's near worthless.

2nd hand 30kWh Nissan Leaf. Charge at home on Economy 7 and Delamere services en route to Bristol if no charging at work, then charge at Delamere on return journey too. If you join Ecotricity it will be 19p per kWh charging, if not there's also a £3 connection fee. The 30kWh Leaf will do your 90 mile one way trip easily and if you do have to use Delamere. You're looking at under £12 per day if you get your home energy with Ecotricity. If you can charge just at home and work, it'll be less.

    Just a thought.

That’s exactly what we did for 12 months. There was a NCP just opposite my husbands work with a charger, so he charged the car while he was in work (with a note on the windscreen if anyone else wanted to charge)
We saved a fortune and he gets over 100 miles a day in our 30kwh leaf.

He is in new offices now and they have installed a charger. :j
Not in debt and it WILL remain that way!
