Memory Stick Please Please Help

Hi

I have A 4gb memory stick which has been working fine for weeks, when i got back to the office today it would not register. Is there any way of getting my data back what ever the cost.

Thank you for any help

  • Try it on a few different machines if you can. Have you plugged something else into the USB port on your office machine to make sure it's working? Sorry to state the obvious but I know how I miss stuff when frustrated!
  • Does it register as a removal drive

If so, you could try restoration (freeware)

  • Is the PC you are attaching the flash drive to on a network?

If so, is the device being assigned the drive letter of a network drive? If so, try changing the drive letter of the flash drive

  • Try this:

Locate the file INFCACHE.1 in C:\Windows\inf

Right click on the INFCACHE.1 file, click Properties | Security | Edit, and give
    your account full control.

rename it to INFCACHE.1.BAK or temporarily move it to your desktop.

    REBOOT

Try plugging in your USB device again
