Damp proof course - carpet refitting issue

Hi all,
I have recently had a damp proof course done on my house and finally getting round to looking normal (walls been plastered and plug sockets back on).
I asked the building firm in charge of the work when the carpets were going to be refitted and the person in the office said "we don't re fit carpets, we tell our customers to organise the refitting". I wasn't told about anything to do with carpets prior to the work commencing, if they did I'd be fine with paying for them to be refitted. But having hassled them for a response every day for two weeks without a reply from the company owner - I said that if I don't get a reply today I'm going to pay for them to be refitted and knock it off their bill.
Does that seem fair? I know it's only £50 or so but I'm paying them about £1.5k for the DPC as it is.
Thanks
M

Was carpet fitting included in their quote?
If it isn't included and no one spoke about it, it isn't included!
Damp proofing contractors are not carpet fitters.
If you wanted to save money, you really should have come here before you were sold a new DPC that you probably/possibly didn't need.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Its the same when you have central heating, the fitter will roll the carpet back but will not fit it properly0

The answer to the question,if a serious one, is would you ask a carpet-fitter to do your damp-course work? Thought not. Having been a carpet fitter for 35years plus,I got used to customers asking me to move their antique furniture and clean the floor, repair the floorboards et.etc. but point out that when quoting for the job I specifically asked if they needed the specific jobs dealt with at a cost,"Oh ,we'll deal with that'. Always surprised when I reminded them of the extra charge or extra man on the job. It works two ways.0
