Need Advice Topping up my Portfolio
Options

Myself and OH have just started investing. In April this year we set up S&S isa's. So far I have 20k invested in the following:
Artemis Strategic Bond 10%
Fundsmith 30%
Merchants Trust 13%
Murray 25%
Royal LondonExtra Yield Bond 10%
TR Property 12%
Funds held with iWeb and about to invest a further 68k in their share save account. Fixed rate bond now matured and it is part of the plan to keep topping up investments as I get more confident. Now here is the problem, it is beginning to feel more serious. I don't want to get things seriously wrong. My intention is to top up existing funds in same proportions all in one foul swoop.
Please let me know your thoughts on this and if my plan is floored in some way.
P.s OH is still hanging on in there, but is increasingly becoming unenamoured with work.

Doesn't look like much structure or reasoned allocation on your current selection, how have you selected them and apportioned your sums?0

They are part of two separate portfolio's. OH holds 35k in dunedin, f&c,Henderson, Scot American and VLS60. Will be topping that up with 75k later in the month. Looking for income to top up pension's. But at present re-investing dividends.0 -
Stirfry, I remember from previous posts that you have much more significant sums to invest over the next few years. If you are not that confident about your choices at this stage, it may be worth the expense of consulting an IFA, especially if that these investments are planned to be your main source of income in retirement.
In view of the sums you are planning to invest over the next few years, I personally wouldn't have it all invested through the one platform.0 -

Noted about the platform. Maybe next year I will put further funds elsewhere. Hopefully my confidence will grow as I gain experience. This forum has been a great help so far.0 -
If you are happy with your investment funds and your research has indicated that they will meet your needs then go for it. However if it were me then I'd put at least 1/2 of my equity investments into tracker funds - is there any specific reason you're keeping away from them?0

I started by investing for OH in VLS60. Did the 'Managing My Investments' course, then decided to go down the IT route for income. I am still learning about my risk tolerance but think tracker funds might be a bit too passive for me.
Its a bit too early to tell if I am totally happy with my investments, and am eager to get the bones of my portfolio in place before I periodically add lump sums.0
