So they do exist.
I always book directly with hotels and have never seen a single room offered on any hotel website other than Yotel (just remembered that I stayed in a single cabin one time, although even that states that two people could fit but it would be 'cosy') but I always stay in chain hotels in the UK.
There was a hotel in Boston (Massachusetts, not Lincolnshire) which offered rooms with a 'full size' bed (standard UK double) which was cheaper than the other, more usual, Queen (UK King) and King (a bit bigger than UK Super king) size, but the full size would still have accomodated 2 people so wasn't a single room.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Some hotels have now rebranded singles as petite/ small doubles. The Hilton at Nottingham had singles under its old branding, now it has compact doubles. The Imperial at Blackpool still has singles, and the Lace Market Hotel in Nottingham. They're all old buildings that have been converted, which might explain it?0 -
Do your friends actually want a singleton with them?0

My friends who are all in couples are going on holiday in September 2018 with First Choice. The price of the holiday is £1397.00 per person. The total cost of the holiday per couple is £2795.00
I am single and would like to go with them but the cost for me is £2468.00 without any extras. This is a lot of money for a single person. Is there anyway of reducing the single traveller's cost?
definitely - book your own flight and then book with the hotel (if the hotel's own website doesn't sell rooms on a "per room" basis compared with a "per person" basis you'll usually find lots of hotel agents who will).0
