Is this the CC using draining a bit of power or am I imagining it?

Presumably this is all normal stuff, that I need to get used to?

On a smaller engine you will notice a small loss of power, simply because the engine is loaded up with turning the AC compressor/pump (whether it's belt driven or electric). The smaller the engine, the more noticeable it will be, but under normal driving you'd barely notice.

  • If, and it's a big if, that using air conditioning increases fuel consumption, it's certainly no more than that causes by using your headlights.

The air conditioning on my 2 litre diesel Mk4 mondeo has been 'on' since the day I bought it six and a half years ago. And I still get 43mpg around town, and 47-52 on long runs.

Mine hasn't been used for over 6 months.........

Stone/rock smashed through the condensor via the grill and it bled dry.
New condensor = £100, fitted = £800, horrible DIY job mostly because the entire front end is held on with single use plastic clips, many of which cannot be replaced and require bending other valuable parts to snapping point to actually break them off.

Last time I buy a Ford.......
