Turned out it was subject to a 'spot check' by their fraud department and nobody knew.

More like it was subject to a 'spot check' by their fraud department and legally they aren't allowed to tell you this :)

It seems that Revenue Scotland are more efficient with refunding the equivalent Additional Dwelling Supplement (also 3%). My flat sold on 18th October, and my solicitor claimed it on or just after that date - I got the money paid into my account on 3rd November.
  • Applied end of November 2017. Told on 8/1/18 that it takes 50 working days. Can't confirm receipt of my repayment form. Called again 23/1/18. Time to process is now 55 days. Still can't tell me if they received my original form. Advised to resubmit to avoid missing deadline, preferably online. Government Gateway can't confirm my Identity, so I can't submit online. Will send 2nd hard copy. I guess I will still be waiting next May.

I applied on 4th Jan using the online facility. My application is listed in 'My Account' and shows a deadline for response of 1st March.
However when I phoned them they said to ignore that as it is wrong and the deadline is now 55 days.

"they" are rather busy with an avalanche of last minute tax returns

Well so much for their 55 days.
Applied on the 4th and the cheque arrived on the 25th - my maths says that is 21 days :)

LOL they were "managing your expectations" ie buying time for themselves free of being chased by you
  • I submitted an HMRC stamp duty refund application by mail on 11 Jan 2018. I phoned on 22 Jan to see if it had been received and the officer I spoke to said he couldn't tell me as it would be quite a while before the system would transfer it to his office. (If it had been an on-line refund application he said he would have had the information). However, he asked me for the reference number of the application and he was v surprised to find it had been dealt with and approved for repayment. He could not believe it had been done that quickly. I received the refund cheque on 27 January and they'd even added £30 interest. I'm a happy boy!
  • Sold house on Monday 25th March, downloaded the refund form, completed and posted to Revenue Scotland on Tuesday 26th March.

Full refund received directly into my bank account on Tuesday 2nd April.

All done and dusted within a week. Thank you Revenue Scotland for dealing with it so promptly.

I feel sorry for all you posters who have had problems in getting your refunds.
  • We moved house in December and I applied for my refund the day my second property sold (start of Feb 2019). It's now October and we still have no refund of almost £10k and just keep being fed what is clearly bull!

We've even recently been told that it's been approved and a cheque should be sent...guess what...nothing! We've asked to raised a formal complaint and apparently it's been escalated to 'Managers' but nothing comes of it and no one takes any ownership. Ask to speak to a manager and you get told there isn't anyone in the office!

At this rate I'm genuinely concerned that I will never see this money and I can't even speak to anyone to raise the concern (i.e. a manager)..!

I just don't know what else I can do!!!
