Medallion Stamp

Hi,

We are in the process of transferring USA shares , in my deceased mothers name, into our names.
Does anyone know of a company/bank in the UK where we can obtain the necessary Medallion stamp guarantee in order to do this??

There have been one or two threads in this before, do a forum search and they will hopefully pop up.

A quick Google will find you companies that will do this, but holding individual foreign shares can be a right pain, personally I would sell rather than transfer and stick the proceeds into a UK based fund instead.

I wouldnt be surprised that in order to sell you needed the stamp.

True, but selling does not have the ongoing issues like getting dividends paid in the form of $ checks (sic) or the risks associated with holding shares in a few single companies, and exchange rate fluctuations.
