Smart Meter - Secure Liberty 100

I had to have my electric Smart Meter changed this week from a British Gas installed Landis Gyr, due to being faulty.

Does any one have a Secure Liberty 100 Smart Meter where the IHD (In House Display) still works after changing energy provider which does not support smart meters yet?

I.e changing from Britsh Gas to suppliers such as Oneselect.

I have the Secure Liberty 100 electricity meter, mine was installed by E.ON almost a year ago. The IHD continues to display consumption information after I left E.ON earlier this year.

I can't comment on British Gas though.

In my case, Secure Liberty 100 installed by OVO with Secure IHD. Upon a switch to Scottish Power the meter reverted to manual and the IHD stopped working and doesn't display any information at all.

Incidentally, to get a meter reading with this meter I press number 9 and the meter reading is then the second screen.

Interesting, My own IHD is E.ON branded, with no mention of 'Secure' on it.
I wonder if the difference is down to the make of IHD or the way the meter itself is configured?

The meter should be able to display kWh usage from previous months via button 4 (See this guide, page 25 https://utilita.co.uk/downloads/SMET-User-Guide-DUAL-FUEL.pdf)

It also has costs for previous days weeks and months on buttons 1-3 but they won't be much use with the tariff zeroed. I wonder if the live/day/week/month/year kWh info I see is actually stored in the IHD itself.

Also, it's button 6 to do a reading if you have Economy 7, 9 just shows the combined total for meters configured that way.

I don't think the 'Smart Meter' is as smart as they are supposed to be; I ain't changing until I have to. It doesn't take me much time to read my meter 12 times a year...:rotfl:
2.5 kWp PV system, SSW facing, 45 Deg Roof. ABB Inverter, Monitor: 'Wattson'.
Reg. for FIT Nov 2011. "It's not what you generate; it's how you use it that matters". One very clean Vauxhall Diesel Sri, £30.00 Road Tax: B)

Definition of 'O's = kWh/kWp (kWh = your daily & accurate Generation figure) (kWp = the rated output of your PV Panels).

When I was with OVO, I had a liberty SM. When I left them for Scottish Power, the IHD continued to work with no issues,

Hello Raxiel and hope you're keeping well.

Since we began installing smart meters, we've used several different types of In Home Display. As we installed yours about a year ago, I suspect you've the one we're currently using which is the Chameleon 3. There's some information about these on our website including a You Tube video where one of our smart meter technicians talks about the display and describes the various functions.

Hope this is of interest Raxiel and have a good weekend.

  • hi, i have a Secure Liberty 100 smart meter, but it was never paired with a Pipit IHD device as i switched suppliers before that happened. Does anyone know what buttons to press on the Liberty 100 to get it into 'pairing' mode for me to then connect the Pipit IHD to it?

I have a Liberty Secure meter with Chameleon IHD. Upon moving to Economy Energy about three weeks ago, the IHD has been updated from Ovo tariffs to Economy Energy tariffs. The cumulative readings are for Economy Energy. So everything appears to have been set up correctly by Economy Energy, but I have received no information from them to indicate that they will be taking smart readings.
