Parking on grass next to carbpark

Hi,
Last week, I parked on a piece of grass next to a carpark for a gym, which was on an industrial estate. The grass still looks like it is owned by the gym who has the car park. They are not open at that time according to their website. It was 8:39pm, as I was popping to the cinema.
When I got back I had a ticket from UKPC.
As it was dark, I did not even see the notices. Do I have a case to complain?

''Complain?!''
Why not just appeal as per the NEWBIES thread, on day 26, like everyone does. It's why the thread is there.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

If by complain, you mean to the gym what exactly were you going to put in the complaint, "why can't I trespass on your land when you are closed?"
Your actions are exactly why they employ scumbags to issue their fake PCN's.
You are now in their sights and you will have to go through the process outlined on here, or pay the greedy scammers (not recommended) what they want!
Obviously if the signage was that bad that will be a big part of your POPLA appeal, you won't win the first stage with UKPC.0
