People a bit closer to the bottom of this ground up revolution (led by Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson) are just seeing the price of stuff going up and disposable income going down.
Most employees are now opted into an auto-enrolment pension, so benefiting from great stock market returns is hardly the preserve of rich people.Restless, somebody pour me a vino.0 -
English people (for it is predominantly they who want Brexit) culturally believe themselves to be highly individualistic. But in my travels around the world I don’t see much evidence for this. English, and also American culture which sprang from England, is very conservative, deferent to authority, and conformist,
England has the highest proportion of citizens living abroad compared with other western nations, 10%.
I watch a nature documentary about Thailand and find out there's an eccentric Englishman living way out in the jungle protecting snakes, or one living on a remote island in the Bahamas protecting Iguana's.
I go to far flung places and who's running the dive school, an Englishman, occasionally a German or other nationality, but by far the highest proportion English.
I go on the beach in Italy or Indonesia, English music playing (or American), never French, never Chinese.
I see the WWW was invented by an Englishman, that the first text was by a English telephone enthusiast engineer.
I could go on and on. If there's one thing we're not, it's conformist.
When travelling I often notice how conformist Italians, Germans et al are. Far less adventurous in food - I found Italy very boring once I'd had a few pasta's and so on - all a bit samey. I notice they are so conformist regards drinking, clutching a single beer all night as that's what their culture tells them is a condition of worth.
You clearly have never been on an international course of you think we are conformist, lolRestless, somebody pour me a vino.0 -

Brings back that image of Farage in front of the poster of refugees from war claiming they were illegal immigrants. Fact is these types knew their market and how to press their buttons.
They are politicians, and they know how to play with peoples' emotions.
You seem surprised. You shouldn't be.
Can you recall how some of the independence campaigners up in Scotland campaigned in the run up to their referendum?
They played heavily on the idea of national identity and yes, taking back control !
It's the same narrative.
You only have to look at the Trump election and the Mexican issue, or the way Orban and co in Eastern Europe use their refusal to take migrant refugees as more examples.
It was the job of Team Remain to anticipate and counter any emotive topics. Sadly, they played the Racist card too often; too loosely; and it lost it's resonance.0 -

Best to blame racists for being racist rather than those who fail to convince them otherwise.
He said !!!8220;You'll never convince a racist they!!!8217;re not part of the master race.!!!8221; But then he forgot he said it when i pinched it.
I miss Generali's input. I didn!!!8217;t often agree with him but he was one of the best posters, and one of the few people who actually knew how banking and economics works from the inside.
He was always quite willing to explain in detail how things operated even if it gave you a means to disagree with him, and he wouldn!!!8217;t jump up and down like a monkey going !!!8216;chee chee you made a mistake!!!!8217; Like some posters.
Anyone heard any news from him? He!!!8217;d just been diagnosed with cancer when they banned him here.0 -

It's tribalism, not solely race. I can ask any of the Christians I know who live out in the Middle East, and they will say they are an endangered species now.
It's no consolation if it's only religious division, and not racial division is it, if you are part of the group who comes off worst.
Even within a country you see divisions.
I accept it as reality and just deal with it. Wrt Brexit it's a dirty business, politics, and if you can't cope you shouldn't indulge. I only care about being on the winning side.0 -
What a surprise, the "racist" card being thrown down today after yesterday's "Nazi" attempts. With such absurd comments coming from remainers they still wonder why the UK has voted for Brexit.
If this is what happens when employment and wages rise and inflation falls, I can't wait for their farcical apoplectic rantings once we're free of the EU at every piece of good economic data.0 -
The word 'racist' has lost all meaning nowadays when it's thrown out at random by people who use it to describe anyone who does not think the same as they do. Such as remainers who are quite happy to post on here and call leavers 'ignorant racist knuckle draggers' and the like.0

...
Yesterday's news....tomorrow's chip paper.
That's all it is. Okay, maybe we should have virtual chip paper in today's modern age.0 -
Funny old world we live in.
- Leave.EU campaigner praises the Nazi propaganda machine and draws himself comparisons with tactics used by the Leave campaign.
- Anyone drawing attention to this is playing the race card.
And to those stating the word 'racist' has lost all meaning nowadays, please speak for yourself and your ilk.
It surely hasn't lost any meaning to me.
And never will.Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -

Fine until they've dealt with [insert current blame figure here] but discover they're still inadequate. They won't deal with this with some quiet introspection - no, they look for a new blame figure. Maybe it'll be you.
They'd blame me anyway. It's a standard modus operandii.
Some say I'm to be blamed for my age.
Some say I'm to be blamed because I don't fit a minority category.
Some say I'm to be blamed because my ancestors hundreds of years back may have not been such nice people.
It's a tough world innit.
Here's who are *really to blame* when it comes to the Brexit vote not going Team Remain's way :--->>>> Team Remain !
They under-estimated the strength of the opposition and didn't offer enough to sway people.
It's not my fault they picked a bunch of light weights, led by a PM who didn't even have the bottle to see through his own referendum to conclusion.
(I can't blame Corbyn....he had his Klingon cloaking device on at the time).0
