Brexit, the economy and house prices part 5

Interesting stuff re Davis. Could have pretty wide ramifications... who will replace him?
No chance in hell could we revoke article 50 and remain on the same terms. There's no way they will just forget it and we carry on as if all this never happened. They can't 'force' us to give up the rebate, but they could make it a condition of revoking article 50.
Whether we have a veto depends on the area of law we are talking about. In some areas we have a veto in others we don't. Don't see why that would change either way if we stayed.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
Can you back up any of Enterprises claims?
The author of article 50 said it can be unwound. That's good enough for me though I appreciate you don't like experts
It might be good enough for you. For those of us who realise that it is the Courts who interpret the law and not the people who draft it, it won't be.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
Steve Baker, Brexit minister, also gone. Sleepless night for May?“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0

Great news though - maybe they can now be replaced by adults prepared to do what's best for Britain and achieve a sensible compromise rather than pander to the BlueKip wing of the Tory party.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

There comes a crunch time when the reality of our position has to be acknowledged by the Taliban in the Tory party. These extremists don't care about the needs of the average person, they are obsessesed with being a independent free trading nation that doesn't actually exist anymore. Countries are involved in a complex web of interelationships and ours should be with our closest neighbours. The EU will not allow us to cherry pick and the Govmt know the only alternative is the softest Brexit possible. Therefore Davis and Baker were sidelined and the civil service has taken over negotiations. Now its crunch time.... do the tories accept this and go with what they can get through May or turn to the purists.0

To be fair, there's been no evidence so far that Davis has done any work, so I'm not sure we've lost much.
There seems to be a lot of confusion between withdrawing article 50 (Not leaving) and rejoicing (leaving then joining)
Not leaving means we go back to the deal we had. All we lose is a lot of political clout/good will and the jobs that have already left.
Leaving means we rejoin with no concessions. Worse than we have it now but better than Brexit.0 -

The UK can revoke article 50 and then it doesn't need to rejoin as it's never left - and continues to enjoy all the same conditions of membership it does today, including the veto.
I asked earlier if you had read Article 50. There is not a single word in it which suggests that if it were invoked, it could be revoked. If it was the intention that it could be revoked, it would only have needed a single sentence to say so. You're clutching at straws again.0 -
Which will it be?
1. Reformulate the cabinet into a Remainer-biased one.
or
2. Bye bye May, hello WTO.
Of course in her heart of hearts May would prefer to reformulate the British electorate into a Remainer-biased one.0 -
