Has anyone had any recent experience of changing suppliers to Ebico how easy was it any problems? I am thinking of changing from powergen to ebico as it will save me some money I am happy with powergen its just the £100 odd quid i will save in a year tempting me? But its not worth it if it involves hassle with poor call centres, billing and changeover!! do you have to pay for the calls to them, are the bills accurate, how long did it take them to change you over?

If you do a search you will find loads of references to Ebico.
Almost without exception those who use Ebico are very happy with the service they get(it is run by Southern Electricity)
The big advantage of Ebico is it is the same tariff regardless of the way you pay(DD, Quarterly or pre-pay) and with no daily charge or extra for the first xx units per quarter it particularly suits those with low consumption.
That said, they didn't reduce their prices in the last round(unless I have missed something) and their prices were not very competitive last time I looked, so I am surprised you can save £100 PA as there are cheaper tariffs available with most companies.
Takeover times are often a function of the 'losing' company dragging their feet.0 -

Yes i foolishly got myself talked into a capped rate deal with powergen when there was all the fuss about prices going through the roof
I did try doing a search but all it came up with was page after page of discussions about if they were putting the prices down in september and nothing about what the administration of the accounts were like0 -
Well, I moved to Ebico in 2004 and the process was fine. I am happy with them, and happy to recommend them.0

I'm another very satisfied customer. I've discovered that price isn't everything, so as long as Ebico are reasonable I'll stay with them.
As a side note. Ebico's prices are linked to Southerns now and southern are supposedly about to drop their prices. Hopefully there is good news coming...

Am pleased with them, Smudger.
On a recent verbal request for refund , Southern were efficient, re-assessed the D.D.'s there and then, and the refund was in the bank within a few days.
And once you have been with EBICO/Southern for a year you will be billed six
monthly based on meter readings, that is, no estimated bills (yet to prove).0 -
Thanks for the information ill think ill take the plunge fingers crossed for me0

No probs for me either! No one said it was gonna be easy!0

Been with Ebico for over 12 months now. The transfer from Scottish Power was seamless and trouble free.
In spite of all the price reductions from other suppliers and the fact that Ebico haven't reduced theirs a recent comparison revealed that Ebico were only £5/annum more expensive than the cheapest competitor for my circumstances and consumption.
Both Ebico's and Southern's CS are excellent so for the sake of pence/week I'm staying put.0 -

Hi Ken - a lot of Supplier Agents take readings up to 3 times a year so could bill you accurately most of the year. This is based on your location so in a city you would probably get this but more rural and you won't.
However, the Suppliers often choose not to use readings or the Agents send them late and the Suppliers billing automation ignores them.
The 6 month billing is intersted but in some cases consumers could be worse off as they will get larger bills that they have not budgeted. So, an amplification of the problems with Q bills.
Nice to have an option though. Nice that Ebico are trying to do something extra for the customer. Be a long time before the mainstream old PES ones will though since their systems couldn't handle it.
Best way is to send in a COR on the bills tearoff slip or submit via the online reading services to get an accurate bill each Q. Can't go wrong then if it's done quick enough...:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
I have been with Ebico on Gas for about a year and its plain sailing. The Electricity is a bit over the odds compared to many other providers for my usage levels but the Gas is very competative.
