Both my nan and I have a freeview box and use an indoor aerial and it works fine - but these are in our bedrooms and won't work downstairs.

It also depends on the quality of your indoor aerial I reckon. I have 2, one from a poundshop and one around the fiver mark and you definitely get what you pay for. Especially as the fiver one was from Home Bargains and the RRP is about £20!

But as the above poster says, try and see - you can always return it if it doesn't work.

Wideband rooftop aerials are the best option.

Bought one in Sainsburys for £14.00. It doesn't work with our umpteen year old rooftop aerial but upstairs with an indoor aerial it picks up the channels but rather erratic.

We are 12 miles from transmitter broadcasting at 2KW power (for yours try www.wolfsbane.com/articles/tvr.htm, type in your post code).

I put a booster (from Homebase) in the aerial line, which raised the signal strength from low 40s to 50s+ and it works just fine.

Now I just have to put in a new rooftop aerial.
