I can appreciate that it's not new news to you but I was most certainly shocked. I didn't know a company could be so terrible and make it so difficult to complain. What was your experience with them like ?

It spurred me on to learn enough so that I never had to engage with their customer service ever again!

I find myself doubting that you have even spoken to microsoft atall.

Currys have been know to hand out the contact details for dubious support outfits in the past.

What number did you call ?

The issues you experienced could quite easily have been caused by malware or your usage pattern. A battery meter is merely a guide which makes an estimation and what it displays for the estimated time remaining is based on the current levels of power being used and what is remaining in the battery.

So for example if there is a full battery with 50Wh capacity and your tablet/laptop is browsing the web using 10W it'll show 5hrs remaing. Lets say you continue with it like that for an hour so there are 40Wh remaining and it shows 4hrs. You then go on Netflix in full 4k with the screen brightness ramped up and usage goes up to 20Wh. All of a sudden the battery meter will now drop from 4hrs remaining to 2hrs remaining. 10 minutes later you stop watching what you were, there's around 38Wh remaining, you are now back down to 10Wh consumption so the battery meter will go back up to around 3h 50min remaining time.

Battery meters should be taken with a pinch of salt especially in a device like a Surface Pro which has a low power mode that is several times lower than its maximum drain.

Your upset because the computers load goes up and down and the battery life goes up and down also?

Your not going to use MS at all in the future? Didn't you say they are going to replace the tablet? Going straight in the bin is it?

  • There's been at least one update for the Surface around battery issues -

OP - have updated Windows 10 since you bought the unit?

Wait, looks like a drive-by rant.
