Diverter shower

In the process of fitting a new shower, its a rainfall showerhead the problem I have is the overhead won't switch off, it either goes through the head or the hand held attachment. Any ideas on what the problem could be.

The diverter is not working properly. Or you are not setting it properly.

    Have you read the instructions.

Didn't come with instructions, it should only have 3 settings overhead, off and handheld. It did come with a faulty cartridge so had to replace that so don't know if that anything to do with it
