It would help to know the make model of the car as some are harder to sell than others.

Put yourself in a buyer's shoes....
On the whole 12yr old car petrol auto may equal high running costs , how does the price you are expecting compare with similar models on say autotrader?
Also how frequently the ownership has changed my put some buyers off.

What did they offer? Looking at Ebay sold listings a 2006 2.2L Petrol Auto SRI went for £510, another SRI went for £1400.

53,000 miles on a 12 year old car isn't a good thing however fortunately for you most people wrongly think it is.

I mean if it has had a new owners recently eg 1st owner for 9 years then May , June and Spetember a new owner, iirc these auto boxes can become troublesome and costly, has the gearbox been recently serviced?

Personally, a good polish and wax over (including the glass inside and out) plus interior valet, will bring the car up nice. You will still be up against a buyer particularly wanting that version of car, I'd get the ATF fluid checked/changed, it can be a DIY job.
