Help stuck in MSE!

The cat has been on the keyboard :(

I am on MSE site and its filling up the whole page, no toolbar showing at the top or bottom of screen.

I know there will be a shortcut key for this but don't know what it is. I can't google it as can't get out of this screen.

Thanks

  • Try tapping the F11 key or the "esc" key.
If that doesn't work, use the windows key:

and get to Internet explorer or other web browser from there.

    Yes, it's called kiosk mode.
It's used for terminals (kiosks) for example in McDonald's where you order your food.

For the poster above, yes I suppose It can be described as full screen mode, if you like I can link to a Microsoft article calling it kiosk mode, but then I'd just be being a smart !!! wouldn't I

I guess the company can turn off the option for the employee to switch back to normal. I am just grateful the cat didn't work out how to do that :rotfl:

Out of curiosity I'd be interested. I'd never heard of 'kiosk mode', but then I still use Windows 7, and as far as I can tell the function with it's current name was only introduced in 8.1:think:

I've tried finding references to 'kiosk mode' / F11, but it I've found so far is full screen/F11 and kiosk mode / -k
