Extractor fan vs gas fire solution?

Our gas fire's air flow is being disrupted by the kitchen extractor fan drawing dangerous Carbon Monoxide back into the home.

We've cleaned the chimney and increased ventilation into the lounge where the gas fire is but the normal airflow is still being disrupted whenever the extractor fan is on. Our engineer is baffled. I've contacted Gazco but they haven't got back to me. Has anyone ever installed a booster fan for their flue? I'm not sure what other solution there is? :huh:

No there is no fan you could fit. You will only get over it with more ventilation. Get them to open a window more and more until it passes a spillage test. Assuming it passes then you can work out the ventilation requirements by how much the window is open.

There are ways to do it (more used commercially ) do you have a jet engine in kitchen extracting ?

Fans for chimneys etc can mean scaffold so expect £1000's all in hence most go for a new radiator? , I'd say get Gas Engineer with commercial/catering tickets/experience with a bit of HVAC standard domestic if it goes beyond install most simply don’t have a clue… Ditto fire manufacture occasionally they have techs that aren't just glorified sales wallahs though...

Is this a new installation the engineer is trying to calculate air flow for before commissioning? Or is it already installed, If it's already installed it should be condemned and capped until its ventilation requirements are calculated correctly, if at all as the above post states.

Yes, it's already installed and has been disconnected.

Thanks all for your advice. I'll ask our engineer about a spillage test and hunt around for engineers with specialist experience.
