However my health has deteriorated, quite drastically over the past year and I was finished on the grounds of ill health in the summer.
A few weeks ago I applied for PIP, and returned the forms on Monday.
Firstly I didn't have any medical evidence to hand, however from reading on here this is not necessary as the DWP will make enquiries.
I just wondered what advice, tips, etc people have. I have been out of the system for many years so I'm quite unsure what to expect.
Any ideas on timescales now (West Midlands) I understand things are a little quicker now. Thanks in advance to all.
I was told (by Job centre staff), way back in 1993, after a head injury had stopped me working for 2 years, that I could not claim DLA at the same time as working - and didn't claim a penny until 2005 !!
So lost out on 12 years of potential DLA.0 -
Someone else - like myself - who appears to have been given incorrect advice regarding claiming DLA at the same time as working !!!

Hi Twuncle, I knew I could continue claiming, but I chose not to, due to the fact when I was working I didn't need the money & I didn't like the hassle and intrusion (I still don't but needs must).0 -

The same here. I was getting DLA enhanced Mobility during the 1990s. But I started working for myself from home and as the business was doing really well I never bothered to continue claiming as I didn't need the money. Looking back, it was a mistake really but my conscience at the time told me that other people needed the money more than me.0
