OMG. That's very mature of you. Make sure that you do go out sometimes but you are doing exactly the right thing to save money. Well done Blue Mango.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220

I have transferred my family emergency fund (£1000) from european account to my UK account. I know it's selfish of me but it's my money and they didn't know about it anyway
I have also requested for my Zopa loans (£500) to be sold so I can withdraw the money. Just in case I need the funds at s short notice.
Currently have £11,500 in my ISA and £4,845 in HTB ISA.
Viewing another flat this weekend. I can feel how impatient I'm getting... I hope I will not commit to buying a place I'm not sure about just for the sake of moving out!0 -
Excellent work. Take a friend with you when you are viewing and take photos of the house so you see everything.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220

Only one friend knows about it and he is working, so will have to rely upon myself...
I told another friend about my plans of 'renting' a flat in another town, I don't want too many people to know about my savings. People get jealous, even though they don't show it.0 -

You shouldnt have to save what to some people is a year's salary just to own your home.
People should be allowed 100% mortgages with housing benefit being used to back up first time buyers/single home owners.
The housing market is where the real disparity between poor and rich lies nothing will change until politicians really do something radical.0 -

Housing benefit is for the rental market.
House prices are far too high, I agree. We were fortunate enough to buy before a boom, but the leap to the next step is far too big, so we stay in a house that we probably outgrew a few years back As what I perceive to be the next step, a 4 bed detached from a 3 bed semi staying in the same area, due to education, transport and family/friend links would cost a further £100K.0 -
Well done on your savings. I am saving too (and have been for a while) Need a much bigger deposit to afford even the most basic of places and have to move out of the area which I didn't want to do but needs must!
I am pretty boring these days (with 3 jobs) but I do allow myself the occassional social outing! Lol.
Hope our dedication and hard work pays off!0 -
A little update.
The last flat I have viewed was perfect for my needs so I made an offer and am currently going through a mortgage application. Fingers crossed!!
It would have been wiser to wait a year and save up more...but...I really liked the place and thought, I may as well have an extra year of privacy...0 -
