Bulb keeps blowing

I have just unscrewed my ceiling rose as the bulb keeps blowing and wanted to ensure that nothing was touching. Am I correct in saying that the in the case of two black wires they should both be in neutral, red in line and green/yellow in earth?

Just one red, but two blacks? I assume one of those will be the switched live, but can you post a picture?

I'll see if I can get a pic but I've screwed it back up now. There is another red further up but this seems to go to a terminal of some kind and is blocked off. Only one red, two blacks and a green/yellow going to ceiling rose.

A bulb won't blow because wires are touching; fuses would blow.

The only thing that would cause the bulbs to fail would be poor contact causing them to flicker. Mis-wiring either wouldn't work, or would blow a fuse.

The other thing, of course, is buying cheap bulbs.

Cheap bulbs, try to buy EU produced bulbs as it is possible to get very cheap Chinese bulbs that do not like rough treatment before using.
In fact the best thing would be to replace with an LED bulb now that they re affordable.

If the wiring hasn't changed its unlikely to be the cause of a new problem. Try checking the wires in the rose and switch are not loose.

After reading the above I'm starting to think cheap bulbs too. I'll buy dearer ones tomorrow.

It is possible to have a bad batch of bulbs. I bought some a couple of years ago from a web site and they were lasting only a few weeks. Replaced by seller without quibble and I was told to keep the rest. They had been informed by their supplier that there was a bad batch.

Could be the bulbs, could be a damaged lamp holder - are there any signs of damage to the holder? They are cheap and easy to replace if so.
