Changing Suppliers

I went on to Uswitch and changed my gas/leccie to Powergen (it wasn't the cheapest, but I wanted the Tesco points), then I realised I was being silly and saving money was more important.

Got through to their switchboard who said I have a 7 day cooling off period and would put me through to their customer service. Then I waited ages before I got hung up on. So... I've sent them an e-mail saying I want to stay with my original supplier... will this be okay?

If it's not, and just say I can't change, how long do I have to stay with a company before I can switch again? Is it something that you can do every month or do you have wait a bit?

In theory you can switch as frequently as you like providing you're not tied into a contract and I don't believe you will be with Powergen. You could also try e-mailing uSwitch or phoning them up? We contacted the switching site when we aborted a move within the 7 day period - they contacted the new supplier on our behalf who cancelled the move.

    Hi,

Be wary that some Suppliers are starting to bring in 12 month contracts. there have been a few threads on here recently about it.

You have 7 days to cancel, if they don't get that from you there is nothing stopped you applying to go to a new Supplier again as a new customer. You would lose any existing tariffs with your old Supplier if they no longer support it.

Just make sure that you keep the e-mail and if possible any e-mails they send to acknowledge you mail because if you miss 7 days and have to argue it at least you will have proof and be able to force them.

If it were me, I would ring them and get the name of the person I speak to so I have more proof.

I can't remember for sure but I think you may have to wait 28 days before you can tranfer again. However, you can change as much as you want. I can't remember whether the 28 day rule was scrapped. Maybe someone else on the forum will know.
