1953 National Savings Certificate

I have just found an ancient NS Certificate which belonged to my mum. It was taken out in 1953 for £15 and says it is worth £20 after 7 years. Is that what it is still worth or would any form of interest been applied to it in the 57 years since it matured?

What did National Savings say when you asked them?0

Before the current situation, where certificates are automatically reinvested in new issues, after maturity they earned a lower of interest applicable at the time (General Exension Rate). Recently this has been about 0.10%. I don't know the current rate.

The above assumes that the certificate has not previously been reported lost and the funds already paid out.0
