A couple of colleagues recently flew to JFK, vowing never to do it again with AirIndia. Delays, small seat pitch and apparently the general condition of the aircraft was poor. I'm assuming you're flying economy? You may get slightly better treatment travelling with a baby IMHO.
If you're not travelling until next year, have you considered the BA/Amex/Tesco trinity for collecting BA miles?0 -

What is the ba/amex/tesco trinity?0 -
my boyfriends company refuel the Air India planes and none of them would use Air India. Even my asian friends wont use them!!
Apparently the planes smell really bad and the toilets are disgusting.0 -

Firstly, you need a British Airways Executive account.
American Express have a British Airways affiliated card which collects 1 BA mile per pound spent (more if you're buying BA flights) which credits to the BA account. (i'm pretty sure there is an annual charge for the card, cant remember how much tho')
Tesco clubcard points can also be converted to BA Miles (at a rate of 600 BA miles for 250 cc points), currently 50,000 to get to the USA in economy.
You'll need to read all the t's and c's to see if it'll work for you. But what with all the tesco bonus point going around....
Eg.Johnsons baby powder 200g buy 2 = 100 points = 242 miles (£1.52)
Therefore:Johnsons baby pwder buy 412 = 20600pts = approx 50K (£313)
And you'd have 80 kgs of baby powder!!!!!
As i said - remember to check all the t's and c's first.0 -
OMG, I've read the first page -- how did they manage to get 3 stars ? a lot of them on the first page only gave 1 star.

Air India will get you where you are going, and get you home again afterwards. And you will have more money to spend when you are there, thanks to their low fares.
However, they are often late, and often lose your seat assignments. And you will need to spend the beginning of your holiday resting to recover from your journey. Fine if you are going to stay there for six months or a year, but if you have a short holiday and every day is precious, I would choose someone else.0
