My partner in error went over his overdraft limit by £5.46 and today received a letter from Lloyds advising him of this and further advised of a £30.00 charge being levied on his account etc. He accepts he was to blame.

However he rang them and said it was the first time it had happened and on this occasion would they be willing to waive the fee. The advisor went off the line for a few moments and when he returned he agreed to refund the fee.

I think approach is very important and if he had allowed his emotions to take over it may have been a different outcome.

Anyway a very big thank you to Lloyds for showing their caring side.

I think this is true in most customer service issues.

Talk politely, calmly, yet firmly and more often then not the the c/s rep will be a lot more sympathetic and helpful towards your problem than someone who rants and raves.
