Blacklisted property?

How do I find out the property that I am interested in or looking to purchase is not blacklisted?

    Blacklisted for what, credit?

Credit issues relate to humans, not piles of bricks....

Kindly be specific as to what sort of black-listing: e.g. the house is not allowed to join the local Freemason's lodge....

Credit for mobile phone or any future transactions where a credit check is required.

A friend works for a mobile network operator and told me if a member of the family has been declined for fraud or been blacklisted, then people under that roof will also be affected.
As he has processed applications for contract and due to previous cases by members of the household, the applicant also got declined.

Well that's the family not the house- but unlikely to be information kept by credit reference agencies and more an internal procedure by Vodaphone or whoever. You have nothing to worry about.

That would be blacklisted by a particular company. It would not be blacklisted by every company.

You would not be able to find out.

Go the Companies House website and download a list of all UK registered companies.

Find a phone number for each, ring and ask if the property has been blacklisted by them.

Don't forget all the sole-traders as well.
  • I believe these companies go by the surnames of the person/people involved.

Many years back now I had a lodger in my last house that turned out to be a thief. I realised she had been ordering from catalogue companies and planning on doing a runner back to her own country before it came to her having to actually pay them for the goods she'd had from them.

There was never any comeback on me/my address from it. I told the catalogue company I was aware of what she'd done to them and what details I knew for how to contact her. But no more was ever heard and I've never had any financial comebacks on me of any description because of her.

You don't perhaps mean black, white and listed?

In that case, I'd suggest Herefordshire.

Don't forget to knock on all the neighbours' doors as well and ask whether that property is on their Christmas card list.
