Does Booking.com price match on its own deals?

We are going to a wedding in Edinburgh at the end of the month and have booked into a hotel there for several night with booking.com planning to make it into a holiday break. The hotel price (for a double room) including free cancellation up to 24 hours before, and breakfast, is £928. No payment before you arrive.

My sister now finds she can travel too, and is also planning to go with her partner and aked me to check out hotel prices in our hotel. I did so and find our deal is now available for £758, on the booking.com website. Same deal. On the booking confirmation, booking.com says they price match but I could not find a price match link on their site.

I went to tripadvisor and entered the same details and it only redirected me back to the same booking.com site I had just used.

Obviously I can cancel and rebook. The question is can I ask booking.com to price match on their latest price with their new one? Does anyone know which of their screens has the price match option as I cannot find it.

Personally I would book and cancel the other deal once the cheaper deal was booked.

    I do this quite often.

Sometimes switching to non cancellable rates if you're later certain you're going.
  • I always wait till last minute, prices are usually cheaper

It is not uncommon for hotels to reduce prices when they have spare occupancy. Leaving to last minute to take advantage of those deals risks the hotel you want becoming fully booked.

Hotel I booked in September for 01st Nov in Cork is now cheaper. I shall book again and cancel original.

    Enjoy Edinburgh
