Ikano Finance - Oasis and New Look cards

Hi,
I have applied to Ikano for PPI for cards that I had with New Look and Oasis. However they have replied and said they can't find anything on the system and if the cards are over 6 years (I think they are) I need to prove with statements to show that I had PPI on them. I don't have any statements but I am sure they never used to be Ikano Bank. I sent them my maiden name and address in the letter so they could have looked by those too.
Does anyone remember who they used to be with and any ideas how I can get around this?
Any help gratefully received.
Thank you
Emma

You need to complain to the seller, not the provider.
  • I spoke to New Look and Oasis who took directed me to the Ikano Bank Website, where it says this is a section to be filled out for PPI and gave Ikano Bank as the address to send it to..............

In that case, it looks as if your account has been purged.
  • So realistically the only way forward would be to try and get my account number??

Yes - but even that may not yield results, if they no longer have details at all, or evidence of you paying PPI.
  • So bizarre, I had a topshop card along the same time and they managed to send me a refund and find all the information.
    Thanks for your help.

It's really not "bizarre". Every complaint is unique and record keeping by different companies is not comparable. Some are thorough in deleting old records in a timely fashion, others are more lax. It's also more likely for records to still exist if an account is still open or has not been long closed.

Regardless, unless you can find comprehensive documentation (more than just an account number)in your own archive, you will have to forget about this one..
  • They were all closed at the same time! I only came on here to ask for help. Don't really think that was necessary.
    Thanks for your reply.

As I said, every complaint is unique. Archives are not maintained by everyone in the same manner and it's possible for records from thirty years ago to be retrievable and records from just over six years to be deleted

    What was not necessary?
