I took a stand alone policy from Bennett Gould partners in 1992 and because I sought it out myself, I have never thought of it as being missold and thus never even considered trying to make a claim.
A friend has said that I should make a claim anyway but I am reluctant so I thought I would ask on here first in the hope that one of you nice people will set my mind at ease that I have done the right thing by not doing anything.
I am of the opinion that any claim would be time barred anyway as the policy was taken out 25 years ago added to the fact that I bought it rather than was sold it.

No one sold it to you so no one could have mis sold it to you.
Is your friend ok?0 -
You've done the right thing by not claiming. Having MPPI is generally a responsible thing.
Your friend is a chancer!0 -
You are right, your friend is wrong. You cannot be missold a policy you bought yourself.
Unless you want to complain to yourself that is.....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Which is totally correct.A friend has said that I should make a claim anyway but I am reluctant so I thought I would ask on here first in the hope that one of you nice people will set my mind at ease that I have done the right thing by not doing anything.
And who does your friend suggest you complain to? You cant complain to the insurer as they didnt sell it to you. You cant complain to the broker as they didnt sell it to you. So, ask your friend who they think missold the policyI am of the opinion that any claim would be time barred anyway as the policy was taken out 25 years ago added to the fact that I bought it rather than was sold it.
its not timebarred. However, it wasnt sold to you. You bought it. So, you cant complain it was missold. However, even if it was sold to you, most standalone regular premium plan complaints fail (as that is how PPI should be set up).
