EHCP appeal to SEN Tribunal

I have a 19 year old son with autism and learning disablity. He had finished Post 16 in a special need school this year and we have applied for a specialist college but was denied. The SEN case officer issued a new EHCP where the school was changed into a mainstream one which in no way matched my son's needs. She has done and updated the change without talking or seeing my son and without gathering all the pertinent data about my son. The SEN case officer said I cannot do anything but appeal to the tribunal.
Just wanted to ask anyone for any advise they can give in filling up the appeal form. I find it very daunting and scary and I am not sure whether I would put the right words.
At the moment, my son has no allocated social worker. The transition care worker who used to handle him has left and the replacement was not allocated to my son. And the SEN case officer has passed us on to SENDIAs and SENDIAS has passed me on to IPSEA. I have a telephone appointment/advise next week with IPSEA. So there is really no one I can run to to ask for any advise. Any advise from you guys will be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

IPSEA is your best bet for the right advice and support. Make sure you appeal on time, but as he is 19 they have no obligation to fund specialist provision any longer although he will get an EHCP until 25 if in further education.0
