Hope you had a good evening Buffy :) - and thanks Lou :A

Well it was an expensive evening. We went for the meal and met up with some other friends for drinks after - £85 spent . Could have done without that expense.

Anyway, I managed to find a skirt for my sister. It was £24, but there was 30% off, so I got it for £16.80.

I'm very nearly done now. I haven't got anything more to order online, so the rest of it can wait for OH's payday this Friday.

Sorry I've been MIA for the past few days. The in-laws have been and gone, and it's going crazy crazy crazy at work.

Anyway, today was D-Day in regards to the first payment to my "friend". I sent her a polite email this morning to say I was going to be putting the money through her door between 11 and 12 (IN CASH), how much it was and how much that left remaining. I then asked her to reply to the email to confirm she's received it as soon as she could.

I put the money through and within 10 minutes, she sent a reply just saying 'thank you'. Do we think that's enough proof that she's got the money?

  • For me, no.
You would be assuming she is saying "Thank you for the money" when she may be saying "Thank you for your email informing me of your intentions".
I would reply something to the effect of:
"As requested, would you confirm you are in receipt of the money by confirming the amount. Until I receive this I will not deliver further instalments".

I agree completely! A simple "Thank you" is too vague by far for my liking!!

I thought that too, so I sent a reply just saying sorry to be a pain, but if she could just confirm that she's received the £370 just so I've got a written record of it.

I then got a very formal reply confirming receipt, the amount received and the balance still outstanding.

Oh well, at least I've got the proof I need now.

Well done! Formal's good, that's a shedload of money you repaid. She's rankled because you've taken control and now doing this on your terms but so what? She's getting what she wanted and you've ditched her friendship, win win. :D
