I'm a remote employee RT. My direct reports are on Mountain Time, and the rest of my colleagues are ET, CT or PT. It's more than a full day's travel door-to-door to go into the office, and plane tickets are currently VERY expensive. So I'm not going to be doing F2F meetings any time soon!2

So carpets were done on Monday (I have the robot vacuuming one of them, must go and empty it and set it off again - need to get the loose fibres off at this stage), then my neighbour was free to do the hard standing for the IBCs and started yesterday (hopefully finishing today), and the scaffolders turned up unexpectedly this morning (menagerie NOT happy) ready for next week's additional solar installation.
More furniture moving has been done - the landing is looking really nice with no wardrobe and a nice CoD that's been hidden in a cupboard for well over a year. I do need to find a home for a small and rather tatty bookcase (it could be useful shelving in the utility room if I can ever get that sorted out), and a console table (probably back in the hall, but I have a cupboard there to relocate which has stuff in it). There are also decisions to be made about pictures - although if I don't find the picture pins they won't be going up anytime soon.
Two parcels are ready for collection - one is two ancient ipads that have been hanging around for a year, and the other is for my brother's kids. Collection booked for tomorrow. Just need to sort out the electrical waste for Tuesday's collection.
Big meeting this afternoon and have remembered I'm presenting so need to change out of my gardening clothes now the scaffolders have gone!2 -
Haha - I hope the changing was only a blouse and you still got to wear yoga leggings on the bottom!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! I did actually change properly - but didn't have time for a shower, so it's a good thing it was only video and not in person!
Hardstanding is complete and looks really good. Can't use it until after the weekend, but it's great that it's done. There's a plate whacker and a pile of sand to be removed but otherwise it's all done (they'll go tomorrow). And I need to pay the bill...
Scaffolding is up, and they moved one of the planters that I wanted shifted.
Priority tomorrow is doing the watering. Priority for the weekend is fitting the greenhouse autovents of the side vents, and setting up the irrigation system, as well as sorting out the hoses so I can get to the trees at the back and the hedge at the front. Then making up the last of the raised beds and putting the raspberry frames together. Ideally I'd also get the compost stirred and topped up, and the rest of the bare root plants shoved in somewhere. Right now it feels a bit overwhelming - but a lot of what I'm doing in the garden (like in the house) is stuff that will only need to happen once.
Oh, and there's mowing, and pressure-washing the patio, and getting the garden furniture out once the patio is clean. And probably more.
Then I need to focus on the next phase of the garden design, and thinking a bit more about the planting (it's mostly been 'is there a space to put it in' so far).
Upstairs feels so much nicer now the bedrooms have new carpet and the furniture is finally where it shoud be. The rooms still need some minor work done on them (boxing in a wardrobe and the bathroom, a windowsill sorting in another bedroom, shower bar and basin waste replacing in the bathroom), and I also need to chose paint colours. But by mid-May, upstairs will be almost done (my bedroom and bathroom are fine and can wait, the landing will be done when the hall is). And it should be much easier having visitors. Plus upstairs storage will be sorted.2 -

No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Feeling a bit overwhelmed by how much there is to do in order to avoid getting behind/in a muddle. However, I have the weekend and two half days off next week to do the things that will help make it easier. So I need to make a list of what needs to get done in that time. Top priorities need to be sorting out watering in the greenhouse and outside so it is easy to do, and filling the garden waste and recycling bins as this will free up space.
I've managed to keep up the daily Pilates for a couple of weeks now, which I'm really pleased about.
Stinky looks like he has got the hang of both 'lie down' and 'heel'. If he can do the latter consistently, that's going to be a significant development.2 -
Stinky clearly has all the lights switched on and a desire to please you so I am sure he will get it very quickly. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Have watered the hedge this morning, and closed a savings account that matured. It's now in my standard savings account, which has a reasonable interest rate, and anyway will be spent soon (carpet or solar panels).
I need to work out what to do about my Cash ISAs. I have two with Nationwide - one single access, one triple access, which are my renovation fund. I was expecting to need to use them sooner, but haven't done - however, their rates are now not great (should have done something about it last year). I want to leave them with Nationwide as I'll probably need to start using them this year and it's easy... but there's no option to transfer them to a new product and I can't work out whether if I close and move them via my current account then it'll count as a new investment. I guess I need to go in and talk to them, and if I really can't do anything about it, transfer them out to another provider which would be a PITA. So either Tuesday or Thursday will involve a trip to the bank.
Stinky has been a very good boy today and NOT chased muntjac that tempted him on our walk.
Sunny but chilly, so I'm going to do some pilates and then look at my list of things that need doing outside.2 -
@greenbee - the minute you close an ISA, it's gone iyswim - you need to transfer for it to continue it's current status. There may be a renew option hidden away, when I hit the button on mine, it gave me all the different ISA options they had.4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!!
