23 Y/O Male Car insurance on an MR2

The time has come to re-insure my 1998 Toyota MR2... unfortunatly im not enjoying the quotes ive had so far! Has anyone got any suggestions for cheap insurers? Ive been with elephant for the last year, now they want almost £800! the cheapest ive been quoted was with bell at £740... Ive tried all of the comparison sites but as im still relativly young with only 1 years NCB the cheapest is four figures!!!
Are there any specialist insurers out there that could beat that? Does my car qualify for any kind of classic car insurance for example?!
Some background: im a 23 y/o male with 1 years no claims, no accidents in the last 4 or convictions in the last 5 years, licence held for 4... The car im reinsuring is a totally standard '98 Toyota MR2 (uk spec)....
Any help will be greatfully apprieciated

Admiral were always good to me in my teens/early 20's.
I doubt the MR2 qualifies as a classic car. The quotes you've got sound very reasonable for what must be a group 15 vehicle, considering you only have 1 year NCB.0 -

Yer, they're the same lot. Admiral used to specialise in younger drivers, so maybe they've changed their profile?
The only other I can suggest is Adrian Flux.
I think if I had a Group 16 vehicle with your details and got a quote of less than £750, I'd rip their arm off. Good luck in finding a cheaper quote, but I think you'll find it comes with the territory, nice car = high premiums in your situation.0 -

I will give Adrian Flux a ring later, im not overly hopefull tho as they tend to specialise more in modified cars really, and they wanted £1k for my Celica last year!
Indeed £740 is a good price, it doesnt hurt to try and find a cheaoer one tho!

theres not really alot to say

I'm 23, insure a group 17 car with 5 yrs NCB and that costs me £600 a year.0 -
try HIC insurance(now part of flux but still worth a try) however with your age i would say £740 is good with limited experience and olny 1 years NCD.
im a good decade older but still seems decent.
can you tweek the quote? eg do you do less miles than the average? is it garaged and if not could you rent one.
would an alarm help?
if oyur using only online quotes then try phoning.the online systmes are rigid and often the human element can tweak the price down.
looked on the likes of quidco for cashback deals? although i would be wary of the AA on recent quidco threads.
tried all of these?Admiral 0800 600 800 http://www.admiral.com/

Personally I get the best quotes by actually calling companies and speaking to someone. Screenscraper sites always give us ridiculous quotes. Call as many 0800 numbers as your patience allows. Play them off against each other too. Your best quote is £740 but when they ask what your best quote is, tell them £720 (or whatever you want to knock it down to):heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
