My husband has a problem. He is in need on a copy of his late wife's and his Marriage certificate roughly dated between 1966 and 1980. He is 75 years old and cannot remember the date. Is there anyway of finding out how he can get a copy of their marriage certificate. He married in Trowbridge and his wife passed away in 2008. If anyone can assist we will be most grateful.

The marriage took place some time between 1966 and 1980, or the marriage lasted roughly from 1966 to 1980? Anyway, assuming he remembers his surname at the time this should help:

As long as you know both names and the rough date (year), you should be fine to order it from the General Register Office https://www.gro.gov.uk Costs about £10 and comes in a couple of days0

14 years is a pretty big window, surely he can narrow it down a bit...doesn't he remember how old he was when he got married? Or are other relatives still alive who might remember?0

If you pm me his name and her maiden name and the area where they married I can look on ancestry for you. No promises of actually finding it mind but it's information that is available to any ancestry member.0

I've deleted my post because it just occurred to me that there might be more to this given the age. Does he have dementia by any chance?
Does he have relatives who might be able to pin it down a bit more.0 -
Just to clarify, he can't get the certificate online. He has to apply to the register office where the certificate is held or the General Register Office. No difference in price0
