Ownership of Vehicle - hasn't changed
Hello everybody.
I traded my car in as part of a new car purchase, but ended up returning the new car due to some issues. I now have my original vehicle back, but I am unsure what to do about the ownership side of things.
The logbook I was given is still in my name, but I had advised the DVLA that the car had been sold to a trader. They did not register the vehicle at all.
Do I need to contact the DVLA about this, or should I just complete the application online as though I was a new owner? Slightly frustrating that if I register as the new owner, the number of owners will increase, even though I'm the same owner as before :rotfl:

If the V5 hasn't been sent away then you're still the registered keeper, no need to worry about it.
BTW, it would be nice idea to update your other thread if you haven't done so already to let all those that contributed know how you got on.0 -
Ya best ring them in the morning, or write a covering letter to explain that you are still the current owner.
When you sell a car, you usually get a reciept from DVLA confirming you are no longer the owner.
BTW due to your trade untrade, best check that the vehicle still has current VED.0 -
The DVLA don't care who the "owner" is they care about the keeper. If they've not been sent the relevant documentation then the OP should still be registered keeper. Although I agree, no harm in giving them a quick call on Monday.0

I taxed it myself on getting the car back

Thanks - although I completed the change of ownership online, transferring it to the traders name. I have the v5 back in my possession now, my name is still on it, but I'm not sure what the DVLA know. I'll just give them a call tomorrow.
And yes, I've updated the thread now0 -
