Cleaning/changing yankee candle wax melt tarts

I love the melt tarts, they have a better throw than the candles.

But I hate changing them.
I read a tip that said to put it in the freezer & then it will pop out. But mine is a whole unit, no a separate top & my freezer pretty full. I'm guessing the top section would need to be shaped so it would just pop out anyway? Slated rather than straight down sides.

If you melt it a little to get it away from the ends you still wind up with messy hot wax to clean off.

The new Yankee Melt cups, the scenterpieces, are they any better?

Do I buy an electric burner with a detachable top & pop the top in the freezer?

stick a fork into the top of the tart near the edge - with a bit of pressure, it'll push the tart out.

Melt it the most tiny of amounts, then go at it with a fork :-) Should come out then with a bit of a shove and minimal melty mess. Failing that sticking the whole thing in the freezer is the way to go, then a poke with a fork! They always put up a bit of resistance.

I use a knife (standard dinner knife) to loosen the edge a bit. Just one small area is usually enough to make them pop out nicely

My missus just wedges a dinner knife under it as well, makes me cringe but she’s been doing it ages and still has all her fingers lol.

I have always used an old greatfruit knife both for the melts and and wax left after burning the large/med Yankee candle jars.

Some interesting stuff about the health issues that can be caused by candles, Yankee candles are made from paraffin wax -

"Most candles on the market today are made from paraffin wax or a blend of paraffin and other waxes. Paraffin is a derivative of petroleum. When burned they release carcinogenic toxins such as benzene, toluene, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acrolein and soot into the air. The emissions from paraffin candles contain many of the same toxins produced by burning diesel fuel. It is like starting up a diesel engine inside you home!"

I use small silicone cake cases in my (non-Yankee Candle) electric burner. Very easy to pop the cold wax out of those.
