This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning all
Pinch punch and all that, I cant believe that its October already the year is flying past.
We were woken at 7.15 this morning by the kitchen delivery men, its pouring with rain and they are having to carry it through the house to be stored in the conservatory for the moment, OH needs to book time off work soon as the conservatory is completely full to the brim !! Unavoidably there is mud and dirt been walked through so will need to clean that up later.
Not sure about dinner today but we wont starve there is lots in the fridge, I need to do a wash today but it will have to be put in the TD as its raining all day apparently.
Right I had better get on have good days all xx

Good morning everyone
I had a stupid scary dream so I awoke with a bit of a start this morning but after a reviving cup of tea I feel ok now. Steve and the girls are all still fast asleep so I am enjoying the peace and quiet.
Roast lamb for lunch today with loads of veg and the best bit is that I not only don't have to cook it but I don't have to do the washing up either. I am planning on watching some films and knitting instead.
Another very busy week next week with various appointments etc so I am going to just enjoy today. The grand kids popped round yesterday with their mum and I have a request for some knitted spiders and pumpkins ready for Halloween. Luckily I stocked up on black and orange wool in anticipation. I have four projects on the go at the moment though so I need to make more hours in the day somehow :rotfl:.
Hope you all have a good day whatever you may be up to, take care xx0 -
Morning All
It's raining here, set to stay all day, good job the washing is up to date. Ironing done, DW emptied and a bit of paperwork sorted - just need to get quotes for the car insurance, a job I really don't like.
Didn't go out all day yesterday (the loo was keeping me hostage!) so must go for some shopping today, the fridge is empty. Going to friends for Sunday dinner so no cooking today.
A new kitchen RR, how exciting although delivery so early on a Sunday morning isn't so good.
Hope the csarinas are ok.
Have a happy Sunday all, take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone.
It’s very grey and wet, the forecast is for heavy rain all morning along with high winds. I’ve put the car in the barn just in case.
Today I have tons of planning and prepping, scanning and sorting to get through. I’m out every day this coming week to do with work and not so chuffed about it.
I too am having shoulder of lamb today. I’m trying JO’s five ingredients slow roasted recipe so that needs to go into the oven soon. Sometimes the easy and familiar recipes become boring and predictable.
Yesterday I wasn’t able to go down to Derby for a big birthday party and I’m looking a photos from it on FB with unattractive envy! I’ll get over it.
Anyway, happy Sunday to all, hope this new month brings everything good for everyone.0 -
Morning everyone, thanks for the thread RR how exciting, a new kitchen.
Windy and cloudy here but at least dry at the moment. Not a lot planned for today, will obviously pop over to the yard to check on my girlie but other than that it's the usual suspects of bacon butties and listening to the Archers omnibus.
I picked up a couple of duck's breasts as have been fancying them since seeing cooked on Masterchef so will do them with dauphinois pots and red cabbage, apple and black currant crumble for afters.
Have a good day all x0 -
Morning everyone,
Thanks for starting us off redruby.
I’m going with my neighbour to Debenhams this morning. She wants a new duvet from there but it won’t fit in her shopping trolley and she can’t manage to carry it home so I’m going along with her to carry it for her.
I’ve put a chicken casserole in the slow cooker for dinner and have made enough to freeze two portions. I like to be prepared with home-made ready meals in the winter. I don’t always want to cook on cold miserable days, but fancy comfort food.
At some point I need to do a bit of cleaning. Thankfully not too much needs doing though, so I will be able get everything done by early afternoon and spend some time reading or watching some programmes that I have recorded.
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.0 -
morning
Housework day again today got quite a bit done yesterday for me but still lots to do. Going to make some leek and potato soup today mostly for mum but sure ill grab a portion or two.
Mum was really upset last night, the electrician was due to go round at 3pm to hopefully sort out the heating and water but was a no show  It couldn't happen to worse person it all added to her "poor me" view of life but this time i think she is due a moan.
Will be trying to sort again today as it really is getting desperate now.
Had a tuna and anchovy pizza last night.... strange I know but yumnot sure tonight
Hope everyone has a good day0 -
Morning all,
RR your new kitchen beats my new kitchen floor hands down. Grump went and bought the tiles yesterday. I'm so looking forward to having it done.
Going to meet my daughter's Gay friend in the 'Spoons' in a bit. She has two I'm particularly fond of. The one calls me her other Mother and both Grump and I think the world of her. The other, a male Grump isn't quite so keen on because he's male so whilst I'm spending an hour with him in the 'Spoons' he's going into Halfords looking for radios and aerials.
Shopping for food later, forgive me Lord for I will be sinning on what is meant to be a day of rest but when needs must...
Onwards and forwards

Sometimes the easy and familiar recipes become boring and predictable.
To start with I'm vegetarian. Added to that I can't abide anything even remotely spicy, so curries or anything made with chilli are OUT. As if that's not enough, I loathe cooking, and am a very nervous cook.
I shall be expecting some ideas from Mr LW.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Afternoon all.
Thanks for the thread RR, hugs to Csarina and anyone else in need.
Yesterday I visited Ds's cats twice, had two new tyres fitted to my car, babysat for dd2 until almost one.
I was up early this morning to watch the GP and now I'm babysitting for dd1.
I'm cooking lamb steaks later to go with our roast dinner.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
I've been thinking the same thing recently; but I'm at a bit of a loss to come up with anything new that I can cope with making.

I'll be making this next:

On his TV programme JO says it can be made with any cabbage or broccoli or even spinach. Looks interesting!
Well, my lamb has been in the oven for nearly three hours, just three more to go. The dish I used is really too small for it, the chickpeas are swelling and lifting the lamb up, though it smells delicious. The only downside is that I managed to decorate the kitchen floor and cabinets with the contents of a tin of plum tomatoes - blooming went everywhere covering it all with thick red sauce. And I had just put the WM on with a quick load so had to do another one with the tea towels I used to clean the floor and units.
Right, need to crack on with some more work. Done one piece of work, found that the printer had lost connection with the laptop so had to reset the wifi. All just faffing around!0
