Having a loft extension done round my house at the moment, and the builder has asked what we want the exterior of the dormer to be finished in. The dormer will be going down full length down the side of he house.
Originally we were going to have tile hanging but the builder has put the option forward of rendering it as he says it looks more modern. My only concern with that is our house is 100% brickwork and nothing else so would a rendered dormer look strange? (The misses likes the idea)

I assume the rendered bit belongs to next door? Even if so, then a rendered dorma may not look so out of place.0

I'd have something that doesn't need painting. So the tile presumably?0

Self coloured render products are available . . .They reckon render doesn’t need painting these days?
I'd go with that.0 -
Why not use the photo of the house and add the dormer digitally?
You could use something as simple as "Paint"
It's then easy to try different finishes to see which look best.0 -

Its called through-colour render, the colour is mixed in with the render.
more expensive (much more) and not something some builders would have experience of.0
